Using What We Know: Supporting the Education of Unaccompanied Homeless Youth
|

Welcome to the official website of the National Association for the
Education of Homeless Children and Youth (NAEHCY).
NAEHCY is the only professional organization specifically dedicated to
meeting the educational needs of children and youth experiencing
homelessness. Consequently, we are the only association specifically
dedicated to providing professional development, resources, and training
support for people, such as yourself, who support the academic success
homeless children and youth: local homeless education liaisons, teachers,
school
counselors and social workers, registrars, nurses, child advocates, shelter
staff, community service organization partners. In short, anyone
with
an
interest in supporting children and youth in homeless situations is welcome
to be a part of NAEHCY and encouraged to become a member.
As you explore our website you will find information on current legislation
and advocacy work that is improving education and resources for children and
youth of all ages, research findings that demonstrate effective services and
practices to insure the academic success of highly mobile children, and many
other resources that can support you in your work to improve children's
lives. Helpful information is added regularly, so please visit our website
frequently.
If you have any questions regarding the education of children and youth
experiencing homelessness or about NAEHCY, please feel free to contact me at
tstahlke@mail.utexas.edu. Thank
you for your dedication to meeting the needs of these children and youth. Along
with the NAEHCY Board, I wish you much
success in your efforts to ensure that ALL children receive appropriate
services for their academic success and enrichment, that no child
experiencing homelessness is left behind.
